The IEEE Communications Society EMEA Board of 2014-2015 is now completing its term. Our operating plan was ambitious long-term plan, and I hope we have achieved its intermediate goals for the benefit of ComSoc in EMEA. I wish to thank the Board Members for their work and support within this concluding term:
Dr. Emilio Calvanese Strinati – Chair of the Young Researchers Awards Program, Prof. Aawatif Hayar – Chair of the DLT/DSP Program, Dr. Adrian Kliks – Membership development and Web visibility Chair, Dr. Didier Bourse – Chair of the industry/academia cooperation, Prof. Fambirai Takawira and Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk – the Advisors.
The vision, the plan and work will be continued by our successors. I wish the new appointed IEEE ComSoc EMEA Region Director a lot of success undertaking these exciting and rewarding activities in EMEA Region. Let me also wish all our ComSoc community, realization of their professional and private plans in 2016!

IEEE Milestone for Polish Team – significant achievements within R8!
One of the IEEE goals is to promote the most significant scientific achievements which significantly influenced the world and honor their authors by assigning IEEE Milestones in Electrical Engineering and Computing. On 5th of August, 2014, the bronze plaque commemorating the achievement have been placed in Warsaw, Poland, at an appropriate site with an accompanying dedication ceremon.
IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professional Congress 2014 Kraków
We are glad to inform that the Student and Young Professional Congress, a great event for your scientists from Region 8, took place in August 6-10th 2014 in one of the most beautiful Polish cities – Krakow. Congratulations go to our four 2014 CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD winners. For years the CAA has been (and continues to be) awarded to chapters that provide their members with high-level programs and activities.
